What Is the Difference Between a Face-to-Face and Online White Card? | Blue Dog Training

The main difference between a face-to-face and online White Card is how and where the training is delivered. The qualification you receive at the end is identical: both result in the nationally recognised CPCWHS1001 certificate, issued by Blue Dog Training as an accredited RTO. 

Choosing between face-to-face, virtual classroom, and online really comes down to how you learn best, what fits your schedule, and what state you are based in. All options are legitimate, both are thorough, and will get you your White Card.

Face-to-face White Card: what to expect

A face-to-face session is delivered in person at one of our Queensland training locations: Milton (Brisbane), Ipswich, Gold Coast, Logan (Browns Plains), North Brisbane (Mango Hill), or the Sunshine Coast (Mooloolaba). You attend on a set date, work through the course content with a trainer in the room, and complete your assessment on the day.

The benefits of face-to-face training include the ability to ask questions on the spot, the structure of a scheduled session that keeps you focused, and the experience of learning alongside other people who are entering the same industry. Our trainers are real tradies, so the conversation tends to be grounded in actual site experience rather than just theory.

What about the Virtual Classroom option?

Blue Dog Training also offers a Virtual Classroom option via Zoom: a live, scheduled session delivered online with a qualified trainer for Queensland students. This gives you the interactivity of a face-to-face session with the convenience of online delivery. You need a working camera and microphone and a stable internet connection.

Online White Card: what to expect

The online self-paced option lets you complete your White Card training entirely through our student portal, at a time that suits you. You work through the theory content and assessment activities online, saving and returning as many times as you need. You have up to three months to complete the course from when you first begin.

The online option is ideal if you have a busy schedule or simply prefer to learn at your own pace without needing to travel. It is only available to our Western Australian and Tasmanian students.

Which option should I choose?

For Queensland students, if you learn best with a trainer in the room and want to get it done in a single focused day, choose face-to-face. If you want the live trainer experience without the commute, the Virtual Classroom is the sweet spot. For Western Australian and Tasmanian students, if you are busy, live regionally, or want maximum flexibility, choose online self-paced. 

All three options are delivered to the same standard by Blue Dog Training's qualified trainers and assessors.

Q: Is the online White Card easier than the face-to-face version?

A: The assessment requirements are the same for all delivery modes. The online format is designed to be accessible and clear, but it is not a lower standard than the face-to-face option.

Q: Can I switch from virtual classroom to face-to-face after I have already started?

A: Contact the Blue Dog Training team and we can discuss your options. We want to make sure you complete your training in the way that works best for you.

Q: Will anyone be able to tell I did my White Card online?

A: No. The White Card you receive does not indicate the delivery mode. There is nothing on the card or your Statement of Attainment that distinguishes online from face-to-face.

Q: What technology do I need for the online or virtual classroom White Card?

A: A device with internet access: laptop, desktop, or tablet. A larger screen is more comfortable for extended reading. For the Virtual Classroom option, you also need a working camera and microphone.

Q: Is face-to-face more expensive than online?
