Training Location
The facility offers a fully equipped school workshop environment, giving participants access to the same tools, machinery and equipment used in Queensland classrooms. Training takes place in F Block, with dedicated woodwork, metalwork and technology spaces suitable for hands on learning.
Parking
Visitor parking is available onsite with access to F Block. Signage will direct participants to the workshop area.
Workshop Access
Participants should arrive approximately ten minutes before the scheduled start time to allow for sign in and the course safety briefing.
Session fee
One flat fee, every workshop. $420 per session.

Construction Setting Out Skills
Practical, small group training focused on the fundamentals of construction setting out on site.
You’ll learn how to accurately measure, mark and transfer dimensions to establish centre lines, building lines and layout points for construction work. The course includes using profile hurdles and string lines to set out building positions, as well as using dumpy levels and laser levels to establish accurate heights, levels and distances.
You’ll work through setting out processes on concrete slabs, including checking slab dimensions and levels, locating wall lines, and transferring measurements from plans onto the slab. The course also covers the relationship between site set-out and wall frame installation, helping you understand how accurately positioned wall frames are established on concrete slabs.
You’ll work with common setting out tools and equipment to develop accuracy, consistency and confidence when preparing building layouts. The techniques covered can be applied to real building projects and demonstrated in the workshop or classroom.

Construction Framing and Finishing
Practical, small group training focused on the key skills used to construct, line and finish timber wall frames.
You’ll learn how to read construction drawings, measure and mark out components, cut and assemble timber framing, and check frames for accuracy. The course includes constructing wall frames, creating window openings, installing noggins, bracing frames, fitting plasterboard, installing corner bead and completing plastering and finishing work.
You’ll work with common construction equipment including drop saws, framing nail guns and hand tools throughout the training, developing practical techniques that can be applied to building projects and demonstrated in the classroom or workshop.
Delivered by qualified tradespeople with practical industry experience, this course focuses on the way framing and finishing work is carried out on the job, giving you practical skills you can take straight into your teaching.

Construction Tiling
Practical, small group training covering the essential skills and techniques used in wall and floor tiling.
You’ll learn how to prepare and level surfaces, measure and mark out work areas, mix and apply adhesives and grout, and complete a range of tiling tasks. The course includes setting out tiles, making straight cuts, working around corners, edges and penetrations, and achieving clean, even finishes.
You’ll also use common tiling tools and equipment including tile cutters, notched trowels, levels and mixing equipment throughout the training.
Delivered by qualified tradespeople with practical industry experience, this course gives you an opportunity to see how tiling is carried out in the workshop and apply the techniques as you go.

Want to expand your welding and machining skills?
Machining and Metal Turning
Hands-on, small group training built for teachers who want real experience with workshop machinery.
You’ll learn core lathe operations including facing off, parallel turning, taper turning, parting off, knurling and thread cutting (time permitting), along with basic milling techniques used in industry.
This course is delivered by qualified tradespeople who use these machines every day, so you’re learning the way it’s actually done on the job, not just in theory.
Each participant will complete a machined meat mallet, applying the skills learned to produce a practical project you can take back and run with your students.
Why Undertake This Course?
If you’re not fully confident on the machines, this course fixes that.
You’ll get hands-on time in a controlled environment, with guidance from people who have done this work for years.

MIG and Stick Welding
Hands-on, small group training focused on the fundamentals of MIG and Stick welding.
You’ll learn how to correctly set up and maintain welding equipment, then put it into practice across a range of materials, thicknesses and welding positions. The course covers core weld types including butt welds, lap welds and fillet welds, giving you a solid foundation you can take straight into the workshop.
Delivered by qualified tradespeople who use these processes every day, this course shows you how welding is actually done on the job, not just in theory.
You’ll also work with common workshop equipment including cold cut saws, pedestal drills and grinders as part of the training.
Why Undertake This Course?
If you’re not fully confident with welding, or haven’t had much exposure to Stick welding, this course gives you the practical grounding you need.
You’ll get hands-on time with both processes, with guidance from experienced tradespeople in a controlled environment.

TIG Welding
Hands-on, small group training focused on the fundamentals of TIG welding.
You’ll learn how to set up and operate a TIG welder, then develop control and technique across a range of materials. The course focuses on producing clean, accurate welds on mild steel and aluminium, with the opportunity to work on stainless steel if time permits.
Delivered by a qualified tradesperson, this course gives you a practical introduction to TIG welding, with a strong focus on technique, control and safe operation

TIG welding requires a higher level of control and precision than other welding processes. If you’re looking to build confidence in this area, this course gives you a solid starting point.
You’ll get hands-on time with the equipment, with guidance from an experienced tradesperson in a controlled environment.
