Card Issued
TAS White Cards are nationally recognised and accepted across Australia.
Tasmanian White Cards are issued by WorkSafe Tasmania after you have completed your training with Blue Dog Training.
Course Delivery
Blue Dog Training currently offers Face-to-face, Online and Virtual Classroom (Zoom) delivery. Availability will vary depending on your state of residence.
Requirements
To complete your White Card you must:
- TAS residents must present one original ID.
- have a basic understanding of the English language
- Create a USI before attending a White Card course
- meet the age requirements of your state of residence
- Have a personal device (mobile phone, tablet, iPad, laptop or computer)
- For Online training it is suggested to use a Laptop or computer
- For Virtual classroom it is suggested to have at least two screens
The delivery of the White Card course varies from State to State due to differing legislation requirements. Blue Dog Training currently offers Face-to-face, Online and Virtual Classroom delivery sessions. For specific delivery details please use the above buttons to navigate to your delivery location.
When Do I Need a White Card?
This course is mandatory for anyone who works, or needs to work on construction sites across Australia. The course will cover the workplace health and safety training required prior to entering a construction site.

Overseas Students
If you are an overseas student with a valid Student Visa and residing in QLD, TAS or WA, you can complete the White Card course with Blue Dog Training.
Course Content
The topics covered include:
- Health and safety legislative requirements for construction work
- Construction hazards and risk control measures
- Health and safety communication and reporting processes
- Incident and emergency response
- Selection and fitting of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
While working through the above topics you will be required to complete assessments to demonstrate an understanding of the material. The types of assessments are outlined below.

White Card FAQs
TAS White Card - General Information
Blue Dog Training delivers the Tasmania White Card completely online. Start your CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry theory as soon as you enrol. You can log in and out as needed and complete the online learning at your own pace.
Once your theory assessment is done, you will schedule a short online meeting via Zoom with one of our qualified trainers. This session includes verifying your ID and proof of TAS residency, demonstrating how to correctly fit PPE, and completing a set of oral questions. This is the final step before your White Card can be issued.
To complete the online meeting, you must have the following PPE ready:
- Hard hat
- High-visibility retro-reflective vest, shirt, or jacket
- Eye protection
- Hearing protection
Tasmania White Cards must be issued in person. When you receive your Statement of Attainment, we will also email you the WorkSafe Tasmania Construction Induction Card Application Form. You will need to take this form, your Statement of Attainment, and your proof of identity to a Service Tasmania outlet to receive your White Card.
Can I complete the White Card course online?
QLD residents
- Learners can choose to complete their White Card training via ZOOM in Blue Dog Training’s live and virtual classroom with a qualified trainer and assessor.
WA & TAS residents
- Learners can complete their White Card training online and at their own pace. Simply save, exit and pick up from where you last left the White Card training.
Is the White Card recognised in all Australian states?
All White Cards are nationally recognised in each state of Australia.
How long does it take to do the course?
Minimum nominal duration: 4.5 hours.
Actual completion time may vary depending on your selected delivery method, class size and assessment requirements.
I’ve lost my White Card. How do I get a new one?
We can issue you a replacement White Card if you did your training with us originally or if you completed it through another RTO in Queensland, and you have a Statement of Attainment as evidence. For more details or to apply for a replacement card, please Click Here.
What form of Identification do I need to bring?
In order to complete your White Card with us face to face, you must present the following:
QLD White Card: QLD residents must present the specified Queensland Evidence of Identity
WA & TAS White Card: 1 Form of Identifcation
I have a Student Visa. Can I complete a White Card course?
Yes. A person holding an eligible Student Visa can complete the CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry ‘White Card’ course. The conditions for student enrolment are the same as identified on the website, including that students must be physically located in Queensland, Tasmania, or Western Australia at the time of their training and assessment.
When will I receive my White Card?
The issuing of your White Card will vary depending on your state of residence. The statement of attainment will be emailed to you the following working day after the completion of the course.
