As CEO of Blue Dog Training, she leads with clarity, high expectations, and a strong people focused approach grounded in teamwork, growth, and accountability.

Alongside her husband Nick, one of Blue Dog Training’s first apprentices, Michelle is a co-owner of a successful construction business. This long-standing connection to the construction industry has given her a deep understanding of how skills-based pathways create real outcomes. Her strategic insight and breadth of experience are key assets, guiding Blue Dog Training’s direction and long term impact.

Brad Deas

Louis Diepold

Louis started in the industry in 2015 and joined Blue Dog Training in 2026. He works across diesel fitting, machining, and mechanical fitting, and he is big on helping apprentices understand the deeper mechanics behind what they are doing. He will tell you straight, it is not just pushing buttons or plugging in a computer, to use diagnostic equipment properly you need to understand how machines actually work.

His advice to new starters is simple, do not buy tools on Snap On finance. One skill he reckons apprentices should learn early is care, maintenance, and overhaul of tooling, because your tools and your habits follow you everywhere. Sharpening drill bits by hand is the skill that took him the longest, it is much harder than it should be. The mistake that taught him the most was leaving crankshaft bearing bolts loose, and he reckons you only do that once. His safety rule is strict, no long sleeves or gloves around rotating machinery, no exceptions.

Louis would love to chop a 4x4 into a ute, or build an aluminium plate boat from scratch. What he enjoys most about training is seeing the lightbulb moment. Fun fact, he speaks German and has two citizenships, and he once sank a boat, despite his mates trying to stop it.

Garrick Dillon

A skill he reckons every apprentice should learn early is that there is always something to be done, do not stand around doing nothing, take initiative.

The trade skill that took Jason the longest to master was hanging a door well, it is one of those jobs where the details matter. The mistake that taught him the most is the one he repeats constantly, always double check your measurements. His safety tip is simple and solid, speak up if something feels unsafe. One project he would love to tackle one day is making a resin table. What he enjoys most about being a trainer is passing on what he has learnt in his time as a carpenter.
