What is VET in Schools (VETiS)?

Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS) integrates hands-on trade learning directly into the school timetable. Blue Dog Training delivers nationally recognised construction and engineering qualifications designed to build trade-like skills, confidence, and clear career pathways for students. Theory is delivered through Blue Dog Training’s interactive Learning Management System (LMS), while practical projects and assessment activities are completed on site at school with full support from a qualified and industry-experienced Blue Dog Training trainer.

    FAQs

What is the duration of your qualifications?
Our qualifications are delivered over two years, enrolling in Year 11 & completing in Year 12
Do students need to enrol in both qualifications to participate?
No, students can enrol in either qualification, or both if they choose.

How does the program fit in with the school?

The program is generally delivered on a subject line within the school timetable.

This means your students’ other classes are not affected.

What happens if a student enrols in both CPC20220 and MEM20422 as a funded eligible student?
    • 1st qualification: Provided through VETiS funding.
    • 2nd qualification: Delivered at a Fee for Service (FFS) price of $0.
What happens if a student enrols in both CPC20220 and MEM20422 as a funded ineligible student?
Student enrols as Fee for Service (FFS) and pays per qualification.

    Cost: $1200 per qualification (e.g. two enrolments = $2400).
Does the program cost the school anything?

No, there is no cost to the school to partner with Blue Dog Training.

Remote areas – Blue Dog Training and the school may negotiate a fee payable by the school to cover additional costs unrelated to training and assessment, such as travel.

Are students still eligible for funding to complete an apprenticeship or traineeship if they have completed a VETiS course?
Yes – where the student completes the VETiS course and then goes on to complete an apprenticeship or traineeship after school.

No – where the student completes the VETiS course and is engaged in a School-based Apprenticeship or Traineeship (SAT). Students are not allowed to access funding for both programs at the same time, but can still enrol in both programs if one is delivered under fee-for-service (FFS) arrangements.
How are materials and equipment purchased or paid for?

Blue Dog Training contributes towards the maintenance and updating of the School’s workshop and equipment used to deliver the qualifications under this Agreement.

Students undertaking a VET in Schools (VETiS) funded qualification cannot be charged any fees for training or associated resources under Queensland Government funding rules. To support the School in maintaining safe, compliant, and industry-relevant facilities for these students, Blue Dog Training provides a contribution to the School on behalf of each VETiS funded student.

The current contribution amount is $400 per VETiS funded student.
