MEM20105 Certificate II in Engineering - Traineeship
Blue Dog Trainingβs MEM20105 Certificate II in Engineering covers the skills and knowledge required of workers employed as Engineering or Manufacturing Employees Level III under the Manufacturing and Associated Industries and Occupations Award, or in related industries where engineering and manufacturing employees work.
This course is self paced and flexible, with theory that connects directly to the practical skills developed in the workplace. Training is suitable for school based trainees, part time trainees, full time trainees and mature aged trainees.
Theory is delivered through our online learning platform, and the practical development of on site skills is documented using our Skills Profiler app. A designated trainer will monitor progress, provide support where required and assess competency throughout the traineeship.
Training Model
On-the-job training. No classrooms or block training. Flexible theory delivery.
Course Duration
Expected duration approximately one year full-time. Two years for school-based learners. Existing skills and experience are recognised.
Entry Requirements
You must be signed into an traineeship contract with an employer.

Outcome
Nationally Recognised Qualification: MEM31922 Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade (Sheetmetal Working)
Upon completion the apprentice will be suitable for employment as Engineering/Manufacturing Employees β Level III as defined in the Manufacturing and Associated Industries and Occupations Award, or in related industries where Engineering/Manufacturing employees work.
To be awarded the MEM20105 Certificate II in Engineering, units of competency to the value of 32 points must be achieved,
chosen as outlined below:
- All 5 Core units of competency totalling 2 points.
- Elective units of competency to a minimum value of 30 points
Imported Elective Unit: Appropriate elective units to the value of 6 points may be chosen from other endorsed Training
Packages and accredited courses where those units are available for inclusion at Certificate II.

Career Start Program - Full Fee Information
Eligibility
To be eligible for the DTET Career Start Apprenticeship program subsidy or government contribution you must:
- Currently employed as a Queensland apprentice under a registered training contract for this qualification.
- Be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident including humanitarian entrant, temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen.
- Not currently be enrolled in a qualification.
- Not be a school student.
- Not exceed a maximum of two government funded apprenticeships or traineeships within a ten year period.

Career Start Program - School-Based Traineeships
Eligibility
Eligible Students will be able to be funded for a maximum of one (1) School-based apprenticeship or traineeship and must meet the following criteria:
- Be enrolled in Year 10, 11, or 12 in a Queensland School
- Not be concurrently enrolled in any other Qualifications funded by the Department
- And have entered into a training contract for this qualification.
