The record rainfall experienced in the early part of the year has certainly had the farmers and gardeners smiling across the state. Unfortunately construction workers do not share the same enthusiasm. Wet days usually mean loss of valuable work time which can see projects falling behind and penalties needing to be paid.
In times gone by apprentices usually enjoyed a day off when it rained. Now both apprentice and employer have something to smile about in the wet weather. Apprentices enrolled with Blue Dog Training can use wet days to advance their underpinning knowledge by working on their training online. No more lost time for apprentices. When the weather fines up apprentices are able to devote themselves to the job rather than being absent for training off the job.
This flexibility is not only attractive to the construction industry but more and more engineering firms are seeing the benefits of having their apprentices available on the job rather than off for weeks at a time at block training in an institution. Consequently an ever increasing number of engineering apprentices are doing their apprenticeships with Blue Dog Training in the areas of fabrication and mechanical.
Next time it rains and you see a vacant building site remember many of the apprentices will still be hard at work on their computer acquiring the knowledge that will enhance their performance on the job once the weather clears.
