Lung Health Awareness Month

Published to Our Community on Nov 09, 2015

Every November, Lung Foundation Australia reminds us to stop, breathe and think about the health of our lungs during Lung Health Awareness Month.  It’s particularly important as a tradie to think about your lung health as you could be exposed to dust, gas or fumes that could affect your respiratory health.

Lung disease ranges from short-term and seasonal troubles like Influenza, Acute Bronchitis and Asthma, through to very serious diseases like Lung Cancer and Cystic Fibrosis.  It’s a common misconception that being young or being a non-smoker makes you less likely to have severe lung problems. But with 1 out of 10 Australians experiencing poor lung health, it’s time to think about your lung health as a priority.

“The use of PPE on-site is now commonplace” said Blue Dog Director, Brad Deas. “It’s important not to forget the effect that environmental and man-made pollutants have on your lungs.”

Lung Foundation Australia supports people with lung disease and their carers.  Visit their website www.lungfoundation.com.au to check out their resources and programs.
