Happy New Year from all at Blue Dog Training. 2014 is shaping up to be another great year for Blue Dog with new and exciting projects as well as indications of growth in our existing areas of apprentice and short course training. In the first few weeks of the year we have received a significant number of notifications for new apprenticeships and applications for the white card course are increasing every day. This indicates that the construction sector is on the move in Queensland with the increased number of signups of new apprentices that Blue Dog is experiencing.
Partnership with VELG Training: VELG Training is Australia's leading provider of vocational education and training (VET) professional development and consulting services. It specialises in assistance to high schools involved in VET. Blue Dog has recently formed a partnership with VELG to deliver training to school students across Australia in the following:
BDT has been delivering training in schools for nearly 10 years and the VELG partnership will see many more high school students accessing this high quality training.
Australian Industry Trade College (AITC): Blue Dog Training is working with AITC to provide a one week Work Preparation Training Course to 15 year 11 students. This intensive practical course will be followed up by four weeks work experience with BDT employers. At this stage AITC and BDT are confident that this approach will result in a number of school based apprenticeships for the participants.
New Engineering Course: Blue Dog is now able to offer MEM40105 Certificate IV in Engineering to engineers seeking a higher qualification. This qualification covers the skills and knowledge required for employment as a Higher Engineering Tradesperson or a Special Class Engineering Tradesperson (Mechanical) - Level II, Special Class Engineering Tradesperson (Fabrication) - Level II, Special Class Engineering Tradesperson (Electrical/Electronic) - Level II within the metal, engineering, manufacturing and associated industries or at equivalent levels in other industries where Engineering Tradespersons work.
The qualification has been specifically developed to be delivered to people who are existing engineering tradespersons or delivered to apprentices in an Engineering Trade who choose to study at a higher level during their apprenticeship. For further information contact Grant Mills on 07 31663950.
