Blue Dog Training Flood Update

Published to Company News on Jan 18, 2011

2011 is off to a wet start. Many of our apprentices and employers have been seriously affected by the floods. We have heard stories from across Queensland of the disruption and heartbreak caused by the flooding to our individual apprentices, employers and their families as well as the effect on their business and prospects for the future. While there is no doubt that the impact has been enormous things seem to be slowly getting back to normal. There is certainly a great optimism among our apprentices and employers for the rebuilding process that has already begun.

Blue Dog Training is located in Milton very close to the Suncorp stadium. At one stage our office was surrounded by water with no phones or power. Luckily our car park was the only area that got wet. Thanks to our hard working committed staff we were able to remain open through out with phones diverted to homes and using generators to keep our IT systems operating. It was business as usual for the many of our clients in Queensland, Tasmania and Western Australia who remained flood free. We had a record number of electricians attend our Milton office during the floods to complete our Low Voltage Rescue Course to ensure their registration compliance for the busy months ahead. We were also happy to help many flood victims who had lost all identification and documents and were in need of replacement White Cards, and Statements of Attainment.

Many of our staff have been involved in volunteering activities in South East Queensland as the clean up continues. They have also provided accommodation for a number of family and friends who have lost their homes. We wish all of our clients well in the recovery period that lies ahead and encourage you to contact Blue Dog or your individual trainer if you require assistance to adjust your training plans or replace lost documentation.
