Blue Dog Training is proud to announce that on December 11 an audit was successfully completed by then Department of Education Training and the Arts to allow BDT to deliver accredited training in the area of Engineering. This has followed a year of planning, development and sheer hard work on the part of the Blue Dog team and especially Grant Mills who has been the driving force behind the project.
Since the inception of Blue Dog Training and its innovative approach to online learning in the constructions industry, they have been approached by many others from a variety of industries requesting that they adapt their training model to them. The success of carpentry with currently over 1100 apprentices has only increased this pressure to diversify as more and more employers and apprentices experience the benefits of this type of training.
The development of the new program has meant a significant up front commitment by BDT to marry their systems and skills to the needs of employers and apprentices in this industry which has traditionally had difficultly attracting new entrants. BDT undertook significant consultation with a variety of employers who were keen to contribute to the quality of the engineering resources and assessments developed by the BDT team. Schools were also extensively consulted to ensure that the material would appeal to high school students who were considering a trade but were unaware of what boiler making and fitter and turning is all about.
The following qualifications will be available through BDT early in the New Year
Blue Dog Training is looking forward to 2009 not only for the addition of the new qualifications but also for the opportunity to work with an industry which welcomes innovation and quality.
