Blue Dog Training is pleased to welcome Geoff Chant to the team as a Business Development Manager. Geoff gained his initial qualification as a carpenter and managed his own carpentry business for 12 years, sub-contracting to builders and also working directly for customers on residential and commercial projects in Australia and the UK. During this time, he developed many relationships with industry and a strong knowledge of industry requirements and customer service.
Geoff’s passion is to provide access to the best quality training and service for both the apprentices, employers and learners in general. He started his career in training by becoming part of a mentoring program that has since proven to be an extremely successful pathway for school students to enter the workforce as an apprentice. Geoff worked on this project for several years, gaining an understanding of what both employers and apprentices expected of each other and also identifying how the relationship between an employer and an apprentice is greatly improved though the support of an excellent trainer or mentor.
Geoff’s Dad (Mike) is a carpenter and had always encouraged him during school to steer away from the trade and instead pursue a university pathway. However, the years of working weekends and school holidays with Mike drew him closer and closer to the construction industry with him wanting to be on the tools too. Because of Geoff’s positive experiences as an apprentice in the building industry, he has made his career of the last 5 years ensuring apprentices also have a positive experiences in training and encouraging young people to choose a trade pathway.
Geoff has spent the last 2 years working with TAFE Queensland but has chosen to work with Blue Dog Training because he believes in BDT’s values of quality training and service to the apprentice, employer and industry. This has been evidenced over the last 9 years by BDT’s impressive track record of apprentice completions which is well above the national average.
Geoff’s own experience in training and dealing with employers and apprentices over the last 20 years has taught him what Blue Dog knows - a strong relationship between the trainer, the apprentice and the employer are the most important aspect of training, helping all involved improve the quality of training and completion.
Blue Dog’s Vision is to be the leader in innovative training services and quality training outcomes and Geoff’s beliefs are a perfect fit. If you have any training requirements give Geoff a call on 07 3166 3999 to develop a training solution for you.
