After winning the Queensland Private Training Organisation of the year, Blue Dog Training was shortlisted from all other winners from other states to be one of three finalists in the prestigious 2007 Australian Training Awards.
At the awards, the Brisbane-based training provider received a commendation in the Innovative Business Award category.
Blue Dog Training received the commendation for its development of flexible e-learning resources, such as online bite-sized 'chunks of learning', to combat the skills shortage in the Australian construction industry.
The implementation of e-learning strategies that assist workers gain qualifications through recognition of prior learning (RPL) is complemented by Blue Dog Training's Gap Training System, a method of identifying areas where participants can strengthen their knowledge and skills in order to gain industry qualifications in carpentry.
Blue Dog Training's online training and resources enable learners to undertake vocational education and training at their own pace, without requiring downtime in an industry already facing a skilled worker shortage.
