Committed to making a difference in the community, Blue Dog Training donate a percentage of their profits to the charity each year.
As Queensland’s largest training provider to the construction industry, Blue Dog are very aware of their community’s risk of skin cancer (due to outdoor nature of their work) and they’re focussed on reducing it.
Director Brad Deas says Blue Dog’s White Card and Short Course material incorporates the benefits of Personal Protective Equipment. “We hope that through our course content we’re contributing to cancer awareness, by sharing the benefits of wearing sunscreen to reduce the harmful effects of the sun”.
Motivated by safe work practices and a desire to give back, Brad is confident Blue Dog Training's donation will continue the positive effect of cancer education and support. “Unfortunately we all know someone who has been affected by cancer. It’s reassuring to know that our contribution will make a difference and in some way minimise the effects of this disease on the community”.
Aside from profit donations, Blue Dog Training staff take part in a number of fundraising activities throughout the year to support the Queensland Cancer Council.
This month, Trade Support Officer Krystie-Lee baked up a storm to host Blue Dog’s own Biggest Morning Tea, raising $400. Of the effort to bake for nearly 50 people? “It was certainly worth it. I was thrilled to be able to raise money for such a worthwhile cause”.
Customer Service Representative, Karen Hall raised over $600 individually for the Ipswich Relay for Life Chapter in May, while her team raised a whopping $7,501.60.
Incredibly proud of her fundraising effort, Karen is already looking forward to the 2016 event; “It was great to be a part of such an amazing community event to raise much needed funds to fight back against cancer”.
Director, Kris Andre said he is impressed by his employees fundraising efforts and thrilled to be able to provide a company donation during Workplace Giving Month. “It’s great to know that a donation of this size will make a tangible difference and help deliver services to Queenslanders affected by Cancer”.
Cancer Council Queensland spokesperson Katie Clift thanked Blue Dog Training for their ongoing support of cancer research, education programs and patient support services. “With the support of organisations like Blue Dog Training, we are able to make a tangible difference in the lives of Queenslanders impacted by cancer,” Ms Clift said.
A long-term and active supporter of the Queensland Cancer Council; Blue Dog Training hope this donation will help support cancer sufferers and their families.
