How Long Does a White Card Take to Complete? | Blue Dog Training

Written by BLUE DOG TRAINING | Jul 15, 2026 2:00:00 PM

How long your White Card takes depends on which delivery mode you choose. Face-to-face sessions are typically completed in half a day. The online self-paced option gives you up to three months from enrolment, but most people finish in a few hours. The Virtual Classroom via Zoom runs to a set schedule, similar in length to the face-to-face option.

One of the most common questions we hear at Blue Dog Training is: how quickly can I get this done? The answer is: pretty quickly. If you need to start work on site this week, we have options that can get you there.

Face-to-face White Card: how long does it take? - QLD only

A face-to-face White Card session with Blue Dog Training is typically completed in half a day. The exact duration can vary slightly depending on group size and how the session flows, but you should set aside a full day.

Sessions run at our Queensland locations including Milton (Brisbane), Ipswich, Gold Coast, Logan, North Brisbane, and the Sunshine Coast. Check our website for current session dates and times.

Online self-paced White Card: how long does it take? - WA and TAS only

The self-paced online White Card gives you up to three months to complete from the date you first begin the course. In practice, the content is designed to be completed in a few hours by most learners.

You can work through it in one sitting, or break it into a couple of sessions across a day or two. There is no minimum time requirement. You work at your own pace and submit when you are ready. To finish your assessment, you'll need to do a PPE fitting exercise, which is conducted in real time during our business hours through Zoom.

Virtual Classroom White Card: how long does it take? - QLD only

The Zoom Virtual Classroom option runs to a scheduled session time, similar in length to the face-to-face option. You join the session at the scheduled start time and work through the content with a live trainer. Booking can often be arranged the same day during business hours.

How long until I receive my White Card after completing the course?

Once you successfully complete your training and assessment, Blue Dog Training issues your Statement of Attainment. For QLD and WA students, your actual White Card is issued by us, Blue Dog Training which means that if you're face-to-face, you'll walk out of the class with your White Card issued!

For QLD virtual classroom, and WA students, your White Card is posted to you after your Statement of Attainment is issued. For our Tasmanian students, you will need to visit WorkSafe Tasmania for your White Card. Many employers will accept your Statement of Attainment as proof you have completed the training while you wait for the physical card to arrive - just check with them first.

Can I get my White Card faster if I am in a hurry?

For face-to-face and virtual classroom sessions, we run sessions regularly across our Queensland locations. Check bluedogtraining.com.au for upcoming availability near you. Sometimes bookings can be made on the day depending on availability.

For online students in WA and TAS, if you need to get started as quickly as possible, jump online and in most cases you can begin your course on the same day. Just be mindful that you'll need to complete the PPE fitting during our office hours.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Can I start work on a construction site before my physical White Card arrives?

A: Your Statement of Attainment issued by Blue Dog Training serves as proof of completion. Many employers will accept this while your physical White Card is being processed/sent via Australia Post. Check with your employer first.

Q: Is there a minimum time I have to spend on the course?

A: There is no minimum time for our online self-paced option for WA and TAS students. You move through it as quickly as you are able to absorb and demonstrate the required knowledge. Face-to-face and virtual classroom students in QLD mandate a minimum 4.5 hours of class time.

Q: What if I cannot finish the online White Card in three months?

A: Contact the Blue Dog Training team and we can discuss options. We want to get you across the line, not leave you stranded.

Q: Does prior construction experience mean I can complete the course faster?

A: You may find the content more familiar if you have worked in or around construction before. However, the assessment still needs to be completed in full regardless of your experience level.
