Overview

This awareness course will cover lifting/moving materials manually and using basic manual handling equipment in a range of environments. Workers across all industries will find this course useful, as it covers procedures to help eliminate risks when handling items in the workplace. Carrying, moving, or lifting items in an incorrect or hazardous manner can cause serious or even fatal injuries at work.

The course consists of 18 topics. These topics will cover a range of correct procedures to ensure your safety in the workplace, including:

  • Manual Handling Hazards
  • Training and Risk Management
  • Pushing and Pulling
  • Repetition and Duration
  • Work Postures
  • Shift/Move Materials Manually
  • Obligations of Legislation and Codes of Practice
On completion of this course you will be issued with a Statement of Completion. This is not an accredited course; however, it does provide the theory and underpinning knowledge required to complete manual handling tasks in the workplace safely while minimising the risk of a potential injury.
