New Sustainability Course

Following the successful implementation of the updated White Card National Construction Safety Card the Blue Dog Training Development Team has turned their considerable skills to the development of resources for the delivery of a course in working with Environmentally Sustainable Practices.

The course will be available as of Monday the 12th March and will have a limited number of fully funded places made available by the Kinetic Group formally MISC – Mining Industry Skills Centre. This course is designed for people who are required to follow procedures and to work in an environmentally sustainable manner. It aims to minimise environmental risks and maximize environmental performance of organisations. Topics in the course include:

  • What is sustainability
  • Efficient energy use
  • Alternate sources of energy
  • Waste Minimisation
  • Minimise risk
  • Efficient water use
  • Reduce emissions
  • Waste disposal
  • Life cycle analysis
  • Identification of:
    • current resource use
    • current environmental issues
    • resources used in own work role
  • Strategies for Improvement of Environmental Practices
  • Reporting workplace environmental hazards
  • Environmental regulations
  • Reporting incidents related to Environmental Practices
  • Enterprise plans for Improvement of Environmental Practices
  • Numeric information about the damage to the environment from poor practices
  • Carbon facts
  • Greenhouse Gases

To be eligible for the funding you must be either employed in the resource sector or by a company that services the resource sector. The cost of this course is normally $300 plus GST. This is a great opportunity to improve your knowledge of this important subject in your own time at your own pace and free of charge.

On successful completion of the course you will receive a Statement of Attainment for the Nationally Accredited Competency – MSAENV272B: Participate in Environmentally Sustainable Work Practices.
